Artist Statement

I am an artist from Los Angeles, who passionately displays my talents through acrylic painting; a medium that has a quickness in dry time and a unique ability to be painted in detailed layers. I also work with oil paint which has a slower dry time; granting me the opportunity to be more precise with my color blending. No matter the subject of my piece, color is the visual element that I pay most attention to. In my works, I strive to emphasize each color and more specifically, their saturation, to the fullest. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved rainbows, so much so that I would say that rainbow was my favorite color because of how bright and colorful it is. Color has such a high emphasis in my art because not only does the saturation make compositions stand out more, but it also becomes a reflection of myself, turning color into a way that I can express my feelings.

Many times, when you see a rainbow, it evokes feelings of happiness, love, and comfort. I, however, redefine the use of the rainbow in my work to not only convey positive emotions, but also to convey what feelings of anxiety, overwhelming sensations, and dissociation may look like. Hues with less value express one side of my emotional spectrum where I experience frustration, lack of emotion, or hurt I have towards a subject. Hues with more saturation demonstrate the side of my emotional spectrum that ranges from the pure love and happiness I feel, to the overstimulation in processing what is happening around me. Sometimes, I experience the inability to communicate what I feel and, instead, detach myself from the physical and subconscious forces of my personal experiences. When I experience too much stimulation, I desire the simple mindset of my childhood, a time of ignorant bliss, simplicity, and imagination; when my physical existence consisted of a more colorful palette. By confronting the canvas head on, I visually communicate my experiences while turning into my own inner-child. Utilizing color, I invite my viewer to step into my one-perspective portals, still lifes, and portraits.

In May 2022, I graduated with a summa cum laude B.A. in Studio Art / Art History and a Minor in Marketing from San Francisco State University. I was selected to receive Special Recognition by the School of Art department at the University's Honors Convocation.
